Competition IssuesIn September 2005 the Minister for Urban services requested the Commission to conduct an inquiry under section 19B of the ICRC Act into Capital Linen Service (CLS), the ACT Government-owned linen hire and laundering service. The Commission released an issues paper on the inquiry in November and in January 2006 released its draft report (including draft recommendations to the Minister). The Commission released its final report on the CLS inquiry in March 2006.
On 3 July 2003 the ACT Treasurer issued a reference to the Commission to review the public benefits associated with restrictions on the contestability of work on the Territory’s electricity distribution network. The aim of the study was to provide an overall assessment of whether contestability would be in the interests of the community as a whole, in terms of financial cost, safety and reliability of electricity supply.
