From time to time the ACT Government may request the Commission to undertake investigations into an industry. The scope of the investigation is determined by the government and is set out in terms of reference. Industry references may relate to:
- prices for regulated services
- competition within a regulated industry
- any matter in relation to an industry (either regulated or non-regulated)
- any matter provided for by another law of the Territory.
The Commission’s power and processes for undertaking industry references and investigations are detailed in Part 3 of the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission Act 1997.
